How I Spent My Birthday Week :-D

Oh I had SUCH a fab birthday week last week!  Yes I did say I would give you all the gist about how the day went.... but I realised the whole week was a lot of fun so just decided to tell you about the whole week!

So here goes :-D
MONDAY the 23rd:

Well... Monday was pretty much spent planning the week.  So not much happened on Monday from what I recall.  The activities started on Tuesday!!!

TUESDAY the 24th:

Lanre Da Silva Ajayi & Aunty Ituen @ Ituen Basi's

So I was at Ituen Basi's (or Aunty Ituen as I call her).  Lanre Da Silva-Ajayi was visiting to give a talk about how she started and what it has been like in 10 years of being in business.  It was SUCH an eye-opener - I really wish I had recorded the session.

Picture on the Left: Ituen Basi (left) & Lanre Da Silva-Ajayi (right) & On the Right, With the participants...

When she was done, I also gave a brief talk to the participants about the realities and the business sides of running a fashion business.  It was great!

When I was done, I was back in the office to shoot a short video in the office with my students.  That was also GREAT FUN!  I will share the video soon on the Martwayne YouTube Channel... don't worry :-D  Editing is the HARDEST part of it and I have not gotten around to dong that yet!

WEDNESDAY the 25th (Birthday Eve) :-D :

@ Yaba College of Technology giving a talk to the students on Entrepreneurship

Early the next day I was at Yaba College of Technology.  I was invited to the Centre for Entrepreneurial Development as a mentor to talk to the students of the Creative Arts on Entrepreneurship.  That was also great!  I love talking so that was a great experience.  I have done it a few times though... but this is the first time I actually took pictures and a video of the talk.  Not sure if the sound was so great though but we'll see during the editing.

Aro Day @ Yaba Tech

On my way out, I happened to stumble upon some kind of festival by the students called "Aro Day".  Not really sure what it is about but it had to do with perhaps.... errrr.... (is celebrating the real word to use) celebrating mental people... or patients in the psychiatric ward.  Not really sure how else to put it but just check out the pictures... they were kind of freaky...

I was driving so could not really take that many pictures.

AND THEN..... the KPMG Alumni Dinner!!!!!!!!!!! :-D

Okay... Shame I could not really get a clear shot because I was ways at the back...

Oh this was SUCH a FAB event!  Speakers were Mo Abudu & Tony Momoh of Channels TV.  But what really made it FAB was seeing faces I had not seen in years!!!!!!  Oh I had SO MUCH FUN!

Yup that was ME still reeling from all the fun I had at the event when I got home...

And then (Drumroll Puh-lease......)

THURSDAY, FEB 26th!!!!! - MY DAY! :-D

Okay... so as far back as I can remember, my birthday always falls on the day Christmas Day of the previous day AND New Year's Day of the current year!  That's enough to make the day special right?!

Oh... I had so much to eat, I only just finished eating the last of the meals yesterday.

First my day started with a whole LOT OF CALLS!!!  Wow-wee!  People I had not spoken to in years!  Which is why I guess birthdays are always fun!  The one day you are allowed to feel special every year!

So it all started at the rooftop of this really STUNNING boutique hotel on the Island called Maison Fahrenheit.  Oh the view was stunning and the food was great!  You really have to try it out!  It's on Adetokunbo Ademola Street, closer to the Bar Beach exit.

The ambience was really nice and the decor was really nice.  I was just taking pictures like some bush chic.  But I was really impressed.  And pretty affordable too. Just check it out!

The Mirrors...

... & the Marilyn Monroe Seats

And from there we were off to another restaurant - RSVP - also on the Island.

Oh... need I say more...

WHAT a day right?! Haha!  Yes I thought so too!  I was stuffed by the time I was done!

And Finally... FRIDAY the 27th...

Yes I was stuffed from Thursday's binging BUT not stuffed enough not to indulge in some pizza with my students :-D :-D :-D  And that was me bringing the week and the month to a close on a great note!

I have always said that the highlights of my birthdays are always the calls and the prayers... OH... the prayers..... VERY HEAVY ONES.  Just check out this one from my birthday mate: Alabama Omoba Joe...

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! On this special day, i wish you all the very best, all the joy you can ever have and may you be blessed abundantly today, tomorrow and the days to come!

May you have a fantastic birthday and many more to come...

God’s blessing inside the city,  God’s blessing in the country;
God’s blessing on your children,the crops of your land, the young of your livestock,the calves of your herds,the lambs of your flocks.  God’s blessing on your basket and bread bowl;

God’s blessing in your coming in, God’s blessing in your going out.

God will defeat your enemies who attack you. They’ll come at you on one road and run away on seven roads.God will order a blessing on your barns and workplaces; He’ll bless you in the land that God, your God, is giving you.

God will lavish you with good things: children from your womb, offspring from your animals, and crops from your land, the land that God promised your ancestors that he would give you.

God will throw open the doors of his sky vaults and pour rain on your land on schedule and bless the work you take in hand. You will lend to many nations but you yourself won’t have to take out a loan. God will make you the head, not the tail.

Olorun a wa pelu e.Olorun a da e si.O ni tawo na. O ni fi aisan logba. Owo ninu owo, omo ninu omo, alafia ati emigigun ni olorun ma fi ta e lore. Ibi giga ni Olorun ma gbe e lo. Abo Oluwa daju lori e. Amin Cheers"

Wow right?!  I am speechless!

And I am using this medium to thank every single person who called me or so much as even thought about me on MY Day.  I'll just repost the broadcast I sent out to everyone:

Thank you so very much for your calls, prayers, smses, display pictures of me, BlackBerry messages.... I can go on and on...

May you continue to smile everyday of the week and I also wish you many many MANY more birthdays filled with God's favour always!
